Brighton Lakes Recreation and Golf Club provide first-class golf tuition to clients of all ages and skill level, from beginners to tour players. Professional golf lessons are available to both members and non-members. Golf tuition bookings can be made by calling the Pro Shop on 9195 1001.

Head Pro Career Bio
Kurt Stegbauer our Head Professional has a wealth of experience in the Golf Industry and has a number of highlights throughout his career that will ensure that you not only improve but more importantly have a clear understanding of what you need to do after the lesson.
Kurt is renowned for his golf development programs for adults, ladies and juniors and is known in the industry as a Master Short Game Coach.
Kurt has been a Certified Member of the Australian PGA for over 30 years and has an Advanced Accreditation in Coaching.

Kurt has extensive coaching and playing expertise & his passion lies in helping golfers know how to craft their ball around the course. Kurt was awarded the PGA 2009 NSW/ACT Coach of the Year and also the PGA NSW/ACT Club Pro of the Year in 2018 and 2025.

Tom Stewart
(PGA Provisional Member)
Tom possesses a deep understanding of the game and excels as a natural and caring communicator. He coaches players of all levels. Tom is currently working towards becoming a full-time coach upon completing his Membership Pathway Program.

Matthew Frith
(2nd Year PGA MPP)
Matthew is excited to help all golfers on their respective journey. Matthew brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. He studied in the USA playing college golf for four years. Matt has had two wins on the Associate PGA tour in his first year.

Corporate Day Instruction
Our PGA member Kurt Stegbauer is available for clinic style golf instruction as part of corporate days. The short game facility is near the clubhouse and is an ideal entertainment location. All levels of players can be catered for.
Ladies Golf Clinics
All welcome! Our popular two‐level 8‐week Ladies Program is designed to be fun and is a great way to learn golf and also a great way to socialise with new friends.
Beginner Level
Our 8 week Ladies Beginner program is a great way to start off on your golfing journey. The Beginner’s level works through the fundamentals of the game. The 8 week program covers all the basics putting, chipping, pitching, full swing, oncourse and provides great drills for you to take away in a fun, supportive and friendly environment. It’s also a great way to make new friends. All equipment is provided for the 8 sessions.
Cost: $250 for term.

Junior Development Fund
Brighton Lakes Recreation and Golf Club Junior Program is proudly part of the PGA MyGolf Junior Program.
All fees subsidised by the BLRGC Junior Development Fun.
Junior Golf Program Levels
Cubs:
An introductory level of golf with an emphasis on having fun. Involves group games, competitions and prizes. Parents are encouraged to participate or watch. Each session focuses on a different element of the golf game. Held every 2nd Saturday during school term.
Ages: 5-8 yrs.
Dates Term 1 2026: 14/02, 28/02, 14/03, 28/03.
Times: 2.00-3.00 pm
Cost: $88 (incl. ½ hr lesson)

Cadets:
The focus of this coaching program is learning on‐course playing skills. Cadets also have the opportunity to compete in our Cadets Playing Comp on alternate Saturdays to continue to develop their skills. Held every 2nd Saturday during school term. Note: Parents can play in this comp.
Ages: 9-15 yrs.
Dates Term 1 2026: 14/02, 28/02, 14/03, 28/03.
The alternate weeks we will have a Cadet’s playing opportunity starting at 2.30pm.
Times: 3.30-5.00 pm
Cost: $118 (incl. ½ hr lesson)

Scholarship Squad:
A selective program for juniors who show outstanding ability and wish to take their game to the competitive level. Selection is based on their skills challenge results, golflink or cadet hcp and coaches’ recommendation.
Ages: 9-16 yrs.
Dates: Held every Friday afternoon during school term.
Times: 4pm to 5.30pm
Cost: $275 (incl. ½ hr lesson)

2 Day Junior Holiday Camp
Ages: 7 – 15 years
Dates: Tue 20th and Wed 21st Jan 0226 or call the Pro Shop for later term dates.
Times: 9:30 am to 3.30 pm
Cost: $190
Includes Clinic Coaching (drills and games), 2 x on-course golf sessions, morning tea, lunch, drinks and golf clubs (if required). PGA Coaching and Community Golf instructors, Prizes and a great learning experience.
